Georgia's #3!

Looks like the Fighting Irish can be #1 in something this year. Forbes made a list of the Top 20 most valuable college football teams in the country. There's also a link to a slideshow here.

To save you the energy of making the jump, the top five are:
1. Notre Dame Irish (Value: $101M)
2. U. Texas Longhorns (Value: $92M)
3. UGA Bulldogs ($90M)
4. U. Michigan Wolverines ($85M)
5. U. Florida Gators ($84M)

It could be argued that UGA actually has the most financially healthy Athletic Department in the country. Notre Dame is worth more, but they have to give a huge percentage of their yearly profits to the university; this is something that UGA does not have to do.

Also, UGA's football team appears to be on the verge of breaking into USC-type media recognition, which should send profits into the stratosphere. Things like the black jerseys and the soulja boy dance will only bring more attention and sell more merchandise. I expect an indoor practice facility made entirely out of gold and platinum to appear on campus in the near future.
