NSNA: No Smokers Need Apply

- Cities in California are increasingly passing laws to prevent smoking in multi-family housing units. Other municipalities are slowly following suit.
- Hugh Howitt, owner of the Happy Scots Bar and the Del Boy Pub of Blackpool, was the first pub owner to be prosecuted under England's new smoking ban in public places, which has been in effect since July 1. Howitt, fined £500 and just over £2000 in court costs, faced a penalty of up to £30,000 (roughly $62,589). In response to the smoking ban, Howitt has also set up his own political party: Fight Against Government Suppression (Fags).
- Paris, where a smoking ban will come into effect January 1, 2008, is now the site of Le Musée du Fumeur, a new museum wholly dedicated to lighting up.
